Advanced Texas Hold Em Tips – Avoid Multiway Action

Multiway hands on a Hold em table is complicated, difficult, and just downright messy. It is much easier to win when you are heads up playing one person. You should aim to get heads up with a single opponent by the flop. You can use betting strategies and advanced table position plays to achieve this.

First things first – your pre-flop raise and a half-decent tight aggressive reputation should indicate to your opponent that your hand is strong (even if it isn’t). You’ll need to leverage this to stay on top of the hand.

Remembering you odds, any player with unpaired hole cards, i.e. A-K, K-Q, A-J, will have about a one in three chance of making a pair on the flop. If they happened to already have a pair, i.e. A-A, K-K, Q-Q, than one in about eight times they will get three of a kind.

You can get into a heads up a bunch of different ways

1 – You enter the pot first, another player calls after you and then the blinds fold
2 – You enter the pot first, a player with a worse position then you calls
3 – Another player raises the pot, you call from a better position
4 – Another player raises the pot, you call from a worse position
5 – The small blind limps in, you check from the big blind.
6 – A player limps in before the flop. The small blind folds and you check from the big blind.

In each of these different scenarios you will be in a better or worse position. But it doesn’t really matter because being first up in a heads up is better than being later in a multiway play.

Forcing a heads up as soon as possible – preferably going in from pre-flop – is one of the best advanced Texas Hold Em tips to implement. By doing this you will exponentially increase your pots odds, not to mention give your poor brain a break from so many calculations.

Texas Hold Em Poker Tips – Observing Your Opponents

The more you learn about your opponents in Texas Hold em Poker, the better. The more information you have, the more fine tuned your gut feelings and reads are, the more you are able to beat the other players at the table. Tips, tricks and secrets mean nothing if you have no idea what cards you opponent has. Of course you’ll never know what they have, but you can get a pretty good idea of what type of cards they may have and that is better then nothing.

Once you have been at a table for 30 minutes or more, and you’ve been paying particular attention to your opponents and their style of play – and of course you have been doing this because you are an avid Texas Hold em Poker player that follows all my tips and tricks – you should be able to put your finger on their exact style of play and be able to make judgements about the calls they are making and why.

When you have, or think you have, determined your opponents style of play its alot easier to play better against them. I.e. If you have determined that a certain player is very tight (tight as in the traditional sense, tight with money) and they go into a pot with a large raise you know that you definitely do not want to get involved unless you have an extraordinary hand, and even then you are cautious.

Now imagine a similar situation where a loose player brings it in for a raise and you don’t have much of a hand. Because you know this person will raise with almost anything you can follow fairly safely even if you have a good hand or don’t. Then you get to see the flop, you might pickup something, end up taking the pot and increasing your kitty. If not, you knew safely it was actually worth the shot. Whereas back to the tight player, you almost know its not actually worth trying.

You need to be making moves that you believe will give you the advantage to win the pot. You cannot base this on blind guesses, you need information to make informed decisions. By observing your opponents you may be able to determine what their style of play is. You should make your decisions based on the type of opponent you are facing. Sometimes, this is one of the more difficult Texas Hold em Poker tips to actually do/implement.

Advanced Texas Holdem – Easy To Learn Preflop Strategy Secrets

I’m letting you in on some advanced Texas Holdem secrets revealing the fundamentals of a solid preflop strategy. Don’t miss out on this one.

Playing advanced Texas Holdem doesn’t have to be hard. What many people think is the secret to a good preflop strategy is wrong. Sadly, it’s not as simple as ‘get dealt this card, bet this much’. However, it can be easy if you know these fundamentals and then continue to polish them.

Preflop Strategy Secrets For Advanced Texas Holdem Players

1 – Firstly, you need to understand all the poker hands. Not only the basics but all the hold card strengths. Learn their strengths, their weaknesses, why they are good and why they are bad. Consider checking out an ABC Texas Holdem Poker Strategy for info on this. Learn all of this info so you know it like clockwork!

2 – Now, this sets the scene for the major pre-flop components:

-your hand
-opponents hands
-table position

You should know how strong your hand is almost immediately because you have completed step 1 diligently. Now, you cannot really know your opponents hands but you can guess. You’ll have to learn how to figure this out based on how they act, their style, how they bet etc. The first part is guessing what hand they have and the second is fitting that into the hand-strength chart so you know how well you think they are doing.

The next thing to factor in is table position. You will need progressively better hands the earlier and earlier you are to bet. You can use worse and worse hole cards the later and later you are down the table. The same goes for your opponents.

Extreme example: say you have pocket kings and your opponent has pocket kings. You are early position he is late. He is ’stronger’ then you even though you have the same cards because he has the benefit of seeing how you will play before he makes his decision. (Kind of a bad example cause if you both had pocket kings they wouldn’t be that strong. Plus this wouldn’t really happen anyway. But it makes the point.)

3 – An additional and very important component that will ‘colour’ all of the above is money! Your stack size, your opponents stack size, the size of the big blind, the sizes of all your stacks in relation to the big blind, if there are any standard table bets etc. You’ll have to think about all of this and incorporate it into your preflop strategy.

Most of advanced Texas Holdem is played preflop. It’s much more valuable to you to focus on preflop strategy than it is for say, river play strategy. You will be playing preflop more than anything else so it pays to focus on this area. That’s why the really advanced Texas Holdem players master this critical area first before moving onto the others.
